Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join the Children's and Adult Learning Disability Physiotherapy team as a part time static transition and learning disability physiotherapist. This post is based within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. The successful applicant will be a clinician who may have previously had some experience within Adults with Learning Disabilities, Neurology, Paediatrics or Transition and would like to continue their clinical development in this area.
We are looking for a self-motivated and forward thinking clinician who is a strong team player with the ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and excellent communication skills. Possessing a solid foundation in core clinical skills you will embrace innovation and be committed to following evidence based clinical practice.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a caseload of patients working alongside a Team Lead, Clinical Specialist, Specialist Physiotherapists and highly experienced Physiotherapy Technicians. This role is highly varied working within the community, clinic and ward setting. The successful applicant will be required to move between sites within Gwent. There is lots of treatment opportunities including Aquatic Therapy and Rebound Therapy.
Main duties of the job
You will need to be able to communicate with patients, carers, education staff, members of the learning disability multi-disciplinary team and families and write appropriate reports and letters.
You will need to be organised, flexible and show initiative where needed and be a team player.
Additional responsibilities will include:
- to contribute to the implementation of changes within the work area
- in conjunction with other senior staff, to clinically mentor and supervise support workers
- to be involved with students as a clinical educator
- to contribute to the delivery of the in service training programme
- to actively participate in audit
