Job summary
As the first point of contact for the telecommunication service of the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board ABUHB, operators are responsible for providing fast, friendly and efficient telecommunication service to all Health Board employees, members of the general public and other health organisations.Operators are responsible for providing an efficient and responsive switchboard / general information service 24/7 with the requirement of various shift patterns including night shifts and weekends. In addition, you will be required to work at Royal Gwent Hospital switchboard to ensure continuity but could be moved to any location within the Health Board.Operators are required to use their own initiative when dealing with situations outside the parameters of procedures.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual with a flexible approach. This is a key 'front office'position and the successful candidate will enjoy the challenge of assisting customers and must possess an excellent, professional telephone manner. The role requires an exceptionally high quality of customer service and will involve ensuring the efficient delivery of calls and the ability to judge the urgency of situations and respond accordingly.
Switchboard Services is a very busy department which provides a 24 hour service and you will be required to work various shift patterns including night shift and weekends. In addition you may also be required to work at Royal Gwent Hospital switchboard. Your hours of duty will be on a rota basis.
Welsh language Skills need to be learnt when appointed to the post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
