Job summary
Do you want to join an innovative, forward thinking and high performing specialist vascular and endovascular surgical team? The Vascular Department at the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is looking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow in Vascular Surgery.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to gain experience and expertise in managing and treating vascular patients, predominantly in the outpatient and ambulatory setting. The post is ideally suited for those who have completed foundation training and/or core surgical training (or equivalent) and are interested in gaining further knowledge and expertise in vascular surgery.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be trained in the endovenous treatment of varicose veins under local anaesthetic, as well as their pre and post operative care. They will support both face-to-face MDT clinics and tele-clinics, with direct vascular consultant supervision.
The post-holder will actively participate in the submission of data to the National Vascular Registry, maintain in-house data collection processes and participate in audit and Quality Improvement Projects. There is an expectation that the post-holder will teach undergraduate students.
The unit has a strong track record of research within vascular surgery, and there will be time for the postholder to undertake research project(s) with a view to being able to present research work at conferences, and publish the work in peer reviewed journals.
This post does not come with any on call commitments. However, there are regular opportunities within the Health Board to undertake ad hoc on call duties.
This post does not carry Deanery educational and training approval. For the clinical aspect of the role, there will be educational supervision, an agreed learning plan and appropriate support.
