Job summary
We are looking for highly motivated Operating Department Practitioner to join our expanding Anaesthetic Team at The Grange University Hospital.
The theatre department provides a 7 day 24 hour service, with the requirement to work weekends, nights and support all theatre departments within ABUHB.
Newly appointed candidates will undertake a comprehensive training programme supported by our designated theatre Practice Educator.
Main duties of the job
- To participate as an ODP member of the operating team
- To maintain high standards of quality patient care
- To participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of care through an agreed audit process
- To act at all times to protect patient's confidentiality and dignity
- To have regard to patient's physical and psychological well being and best interest all times.
- To ensure the safety of patients at all times.
- To ensure the provision of effective efficient and appropriate high quality patient care.
- To communicate effectively at all times within the multidisciplinary team
- To support individuals at all times and act as a fully integrated member of the team(s)
- To ensure all forms of communication are used effectively
- To participate in the duty rota system
- To participate in the teaching of learners from all disciplines and the supervision of unqualified staff
- To reflect in practice the latest charters and national standards of care
- To help maintain the security of the department at all times
- To maintain good working relationships with all disciplines concerned with operating theatre procedures including co-operation with ward staff in pre medicating and sending patients undergoing surgery and transferring patients to and from theatre.
- To support the band 7 team leader
- To promote evidence based practice and act as an accountable role model and clinical expert.
- To work in theatre units in ABUHB as the need arises
