Job summary

We are currently looking to appoint Junior Clinical Fellows (Tier 1 Level) in Paediatrics based at The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran.

This state-of-the-art hospital opened in November 2020 providing excellent facilities for the Aneurin Bevan population including a centralised acute intake service for paediatric patients across specialities that meets the RCPCH Facing the Future standards.

There is an integrated Children's Emergency Assessment Unit comprising 16 assessment spaces. In addition, a satellite GP assessment unit, Fox Pox, is situated on the children's ward, C1, where there are 48 beds including 40 cubicles. There is also a Short Stay Unit and 2 bedded Stabilisation and High Dependency area.

Main duties of the job

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Admission and care of emergency admissions and GP referrals.
  • Routine work in the children's ward, GP Assessment Unit (Fox pod) and Children's Emergency Assessment Unit (CEAU)

You will join a strong, dynamic, and friendly team of consultants, middle grade doctors, GP and Paediatric trainees, and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

Each day, two consultant paediatricians cover the Wards and High Dependency during the working hours and a third consultant covers CEAU and Fox Pod GP Assessment Unit, until 21:30 hours.
