Job summary
This post is to support the Directorate service for skin lesion patients and provides an opportunity to join an enthusiastic and forward thinking department. Lesion patients are treated at one stop hospital clinics at 4 sites across the Health Board.
There is a well-established teledermatology/teledermoscopy service supported by a network of GP's undertaking extended skin surgery in the community and Consultant day-case sessions for more complex cases.
There is no requirement for on call. The Department has an effective team approach facilitated by weekly meetings and is keen to help new colleagues pursue their career interests as they develop experience within their chosen field. We also participate in the South Wales Dermatology specialist training programme.
Main duties of the job
One stop Consultant lesion clinics are held across the Health Board supported by 4 Clinical Nurse Specialists for skin cancer and several experienced Specialty Doctors. Minor operating lists for more complex patients are held at the Dermatology Unit, St Woolos Hospital, Newport. Weekly MDT meetings are in place and the service has strong links with colleagues in Plastic Surgery and Maxillo Facial.
