An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to Join the Award winning Older Adult Psychiatric liaison Team (OAPL).
This post involves working with patients over 65 presenting with deterioration in their mental health.

Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to Join the Award-winning Older Adult Psychiatric liaison Team (OAPL).
This post involves working with patients over 65 presenting with deterioration in their mental health.
OAPL team currently has two bases, NHH and RGH covering all 9 hospitals within ABUHB. The base for this post would be Nevill Hall Hospital and covering pan gwent, you would be required to move between sites as part of this role.
The role is to offer assessments of patients who have been admitted to A&E, MAU, and general wards with a mental health presentation or delirium due to a deterioration in physical health. As a practitioner, the role would assess and advise on the appropriate management of the patient's mental health and support general wards, with a strong emphasis on advocating for both patients and their families.
This role offers autonomy, but you are highly supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Psychologist, Practitioners, and Responsive Hospital Support Team, (HCSW) and weekly MDT's. We are a very supportive team who promote mental well-being with regular supervision and team meeting,
This post offers opportunities to build on your current skills with extensive training and education package, develop knowledge of physical health and the impact this can have on a person's mental health.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
