Job summary
The Pre-Operative Assessment (POAC) Directorate at Cardiff and Vale UHB is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our reception team. As the first point of contact for patients attending the service, you will play a key role in delivering a welcoming and supportive experience.
Main duties of the job
o Make and receive telephone calls from all stakeholders, including patients, relatives and clinicians. Politely identify the caller's needs, record information accurately and take appropriate action.o Provide a positive and courteous front-of-house service by meeting and greeting patients and completing clerking-in procedures on arrival.o Manage patient appointments, including adding patients to waiting lists, booking, cancelling and amending appointments to ensure accurate records and optimal use of clinic capacity.o Process referrals promptly, prioritising urgent cases as required. Identify and escalate any referrals that do not meet access criteria for supervisory review.o Work collaboratively with the Pre-Operative Assessment nursing team, providing clerical support to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the department. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The post holder will ensure that all duties are carried out efficiently and to the highest standard, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and patientcentred care across the Directorate.
