Clerical Officer - Lung Function

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Clerical Officer to join our busy Outpatients Service based in the Lung Function and Sleep Apnoea Service in University Hospital Llandough
The post holder will look forward to a challenging and rewarding work environment, in which finding a balance between team working and using initiative is key.
Experience of working with the public in a Healthcare setting and use of IT systems would be an advantage.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
- Make and receive telephone calls from all stakeholders to include patients, relatives, and General Practice. Politely establish caller's needs and accurately record and action.
- Positively engage with the general public by meeting and greeting patients and clerking them into the department
- Add to patient waiting lists, booking, cancelling and amending patient appointments to ensure all patient lists are booked adequately and cancellation slots are utilised
- Action all received referrals in timely fashion, depending on urgent or routine nature. Recognise and highlight any referrals for supervisory action not meeting access criteria.
- Work within the team of Respiratory Physiologists to provide clerical assistance within the department
