Executive Director of Strategy Planning and Partnerships

The closing date is 09 November 2025

Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB) is one of the largest integrated health organisations in the UK, employing over 16,000 colleagues and serving nearly half a million people across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. We are ambitious, values-driven and focused on creating a healthier future for our communities through our ten-year strategy Shaping Our Future Wellbeing.

We are seeking an exceptional Executive Director of Strategy, Planning and Partnerships - a visionary, collaborative and politically astute leader who can shape and deliver the strategic direction of one of Wales's leading healthcare organisations.

Main duties of the job

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and sitting as an Executive member of the Board, you will lead the development and implementation of our strategic portfolio, overseeing planning, partnerships and innovation across the system. You will ensure our long-term plans are robust, evidence-based and focused on improving population health, quality, sustainability, and equity.

This role demands an experienced, influential leader with extensive background in strategic planning and delivery within the NHS or a comparable system. You will bring the confidence to navigate complexity, the credibility to engage at the highest levels, and the leadership to inspire and align diverse stakeholders around shared goals.

If you are motivated by the opportunity to shape services, strengthen partnerships and deliver impact at scale, we would love to hear from you.
