Cardiothoracic Research Nurse

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Cardiothoracic Research Team at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with a special focus on Heart Failure Research.

The successful candidate will be a qualified nurse with a strong background in direct patient care and a keen interest in advancing cardiac care through clinical research. You will be based within the Cardiothoracic Directorate, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to support and deliver a growing portfolio of heart failure studies.

While previous experience in clinical trials is desirable, it is not essential full training and ongoing clinical support will be provided. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting edge research aimed at improving outcomes for patients with heart failure and other cardiac conditions.

The Cardiothoracic Research Team is actively expanding its research portfolio, with a focus on heart failure, arrhythmias, and interventional cardiology. Our work contributes to national and international studies aimed at developing innovative treatments and improving patient outcomes.

This is a 2 year fixed term post, with the potential to extend to 4 years depending on proof of concept. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Main duties of the job

Support the delivery of commercial and non commercial clinical trials in heart failure and cardiology.

Coordinate patient recruitment, consent, and follow-up in accordance with study protocols.

Collaborate with cardiologists, research staff, and external partners to ensure high-quality data collection and patient care.

Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
