Occupational Therapist, Stroke Service

Following investment into the Thrombectomy Service within Stroke we are excited to offer a full time Band 6 position within our forward thinking Occupational Therapy Stroke Service. We wish to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic, suitably experienced Occupational Therapist who has a passion for stroke care.

The successful applicant will join an experienced and committed multiprofessional team based at the University Hospital of Wales, supportingan integrated approach to Stroke care delivery and work flexibly and collaboratively with the full stroke Occupational Therapy team and colleagues across the wider pathway. Occupational Therapy supports 7-day service delivery within the acute service and this is a requirement within this role as part of a planned rota.

Main duties of the job

Working withthe new AHP Clinical Lead for stroke and in close collaboration with the multiprofessional team, you will deliver comprehensive assessment underpinned by the stroke evidence base, to inform Occupational Therapy early intervention/rehabilitation. You will inform MDT decision making regarding ongoing rehabilitation, highlighting occupational performance and optimising recovery and outcomes. As part of the Occupational Therapy team you will support a flexible pathway approach to stroke care delivery with opportunitiesto work in the wider stroke pathway to further develop stroke skills/knowledge, engaging and promoting service delivery and improvement. Management of activity data is essential in this role and you will receive training in collection and collation of Occupational Therapy data for SSNAP.

We are looking for someone with a flexible approach, who is resourceful and enthusiastic and can demonstrate the impact and added value that Occupational Therapy brings to the Stroke Pathway. Excellent time management, resilience and prioritisationskills are essential for delivery of an efficient and effective service.

We are highly committed to personal and professional development and you will be supported by the AHP Lead for Stroke and the Occupational Therapy Team Leaders. Opportunities to shadow/visit other services within this specialist pathway are supported. We welcome enquiries and visits.

  • Holds professional registration as awarded by the Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
  • Specialist training/courses to Postgraduate Diploma level

Experience

  • Significant post registration experience in rehabilitation relevant to the post
  • Experience as working as part of an MDT
  • Active involvement in service development and quality initiatives

Desirable

  • Experience working with neurological conditions.
