Specialist Pharmacist- Surgery
We are looking for a highly motivated clinical pharmacist to join the Cardiff and Vale UHB Surgery pharmacy team. You will play a key part in providing a first class, patient focussed service to Adult Surgery patients. Your knowledge, skills, and experience will further enhance the excellent service we provide.
Based at the University Hospital of Llandough, you will provide a clinical pharmacy service to inpatients on the Orthopaedic wards within the Trauma and Orthopaedics Directorate.
The directorate provides care and surgical interventions for elective and unscheduled patients from across the Cardiff and Vale region. These include a mix of planned procedures to improve peoples health and quality of life and emergency life saving surgery. It is also home to CAVOC (Cardiff and Vale Orthopaedic Centre) and the new (SH@LL) Surgical Hub at Llandough, providing excellent care in state of the art facilities.
The specialty recognises and values a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach in all aspects of care.
Main duties of the job
As a clinical pharmacist working in the Surgery pharmacy team, you will have an integral role in providing high-quality specialist pharmacy services to inpatients on our Trauma and Orthopaedics wards. There is also scope to be involved in Surgical Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic (POAC) and in the Palliative care service, including provision of care to the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth. You will be expected to build on your education and development skills by supporting the development of foundation and post-foundation phase pharmacists, as well as medical and nursing colleagues. Your professionalism, excellent inter-personal skills and enthusiasm, will equip you to be a valued contributor to our service and to develop to be a key member of our clinical pharmacy team. You will be supported to further develop your independent prescribing role within Surgery, particularly POAC and Palliative Care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
