Job summary

The Crisis Recovery Unit based at The University Hospital of Wales Cardiff, is seeking a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse to work as part of theirseven day a week service. The unit is part of the Mental Health Crisis Service for Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board Trust. The ability towork enthusiastically with clients who are in Mental Health Crisis in a caring and compassionate way is an essential requirement of the role.Working at the unit can be extremely rewarding offering the opportunity to deliver evidenced based therapeutic care in an interesting and supportive environment. Providing an alternative to hospital admission and supporting early discharge for identified patients, the Crisis Recovery Unit works alongside the North and South Crisis Teams in Cardiff.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post; English and/or Welsh speaking applicants are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is required to ensure that Crisis Services in Cardiff and the Vale provide community day service care within a holistic philosophy for those suffering with mental health problems who are in acute crisis. This care will also ensure support for the Individuals' families and carers. Service delivery will be facilitated in collaboration with hospital and community based multi-agency resources.The care of the clients will be delivered from a base known as the Crisis Recovery Unit which is a seven day a week community provision.

1). Supporting clients and carers by providing Evidenced Based

Psychological Interventions.

2). Assisting the client and carer by supporting and educating in relation to Mental Health Crisis.

3). Monitor prescribed treatments at home or in the team base, including medication and psycho-social interventions, promoting health education at every opportunity.

4). To administer prescribed medications including Clozapine Initiation and Depot Injections.

5). Develop specialist interest/skills/knowledge that reflects a developing and modernising Mental Health Service.

6). Participate in attendance at multi-disciplinary reviews and meetings in relation to admission and discharge planning, and provide or receive feedback on all relevant information.
