Cardiff and Vale Integrated Autism Service is very excited to be recruiting a part-time Band 4 Community Support Worker. The Integrated Autism Service is a multi-agency specialist autism service, and is one of 7 such services in Wales set up through Welsh Government funding to address gaps in service provision for autistic adults.

The key aims of the service are to offer diagnostic and support services to autistic peopleand their carers whose needs would not otherwise be met by other services.

As well as diagnostic assessments of autism for adults, the services offers individual and group interventions to autistic adults and their parents and carers. We also provide autism training, consultation and advice to professionals working with autistic people and often joint work with other services.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, skilled and experienced community worker with a passion for autism to be part of the Integrated Autism Service. The post holder will be working within a busy, highly skilled and supportive multi-disciplinary team. The role involves the provision of relevant information, advice and assistance to autistic adults, and their parents and carers. The post holder will be trained in using the Spectrum Star to offer individual support to autistic adults using the service in goal setting and achieving meaningful outcomes. The IAS community workers take a lead role in the development and facilitation of IAS groups and workshops supported by the IAS clinicians.

We are based in Penarth and provide our service to those living in across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
