Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and highly-experienced advanced clinical pharmacist to lead our patient-focused and progressive Pharmacy Infectious Diseases Team.

The post holder will lead clinical pharmacy services to patients of the regional tertiary Infectious Diseases Service and play an integral role in directing this service as part of the MDT, ensuring that a sustainable, high quality pharmacy service is provided for the population covered by the service and wider.

For this post, the expectation is that the successful candidate will already be credentialed, or working towards Consultant Pharmacist credentialing as set by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Practice as an expert/consultant pharmacist in Infectious Diseases

Lead the pharmacy service for Infectious Diseases and act as an expert resource for this area of practice

Work with relevant stakeholders, including NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee, to develop and agree models of care that optimise the pharmaceutical care for Infectious Diseases patients across the UHB and South East Wales.

Share best practice in Infectious Diseases care across Wales and the UK through collaborative working.

Continue to develop quality standards for patient-facing pharmacy services, supporting performance measures and strategies to benchmark clinical contributions.

Lead education and development in Infectious Diseases for pharmacy in CAVUHB and input to the related local governance agenda.

Identify and participate in the development of an All Wales strategy for Research and Development in clinical pharmacy for Infectious Diseases.

  • MPharm graduate in Pharmacy, Registered with GPHC, MRPharmS, Postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification, Independent prescriber status (or working towards)

Desirable

  • Postgraduate graduate management qualification
  • Credentialed as RPS Consultant-ready

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in ID services with sufficient experience at expert / consultant level of practice within an NHS Trust or Health Board providing acute services, including responsibility for staff.
  • Leadership experience
  • Evidence of strategy development and change management in complex situations.
  • Evidence of success in service development.
  • Collaboration with Schools of Pharmacy and/or Medicine in teaching and/or research.

Desirable

  • Experience of leading in tertiary specialist service provision.
  • Experience in a senior role in Infectious Diseases
