Job summary

The Clinical Leader has continuing responsibility for the delivery, assessment and evaluation of quality patient care within the speciality of obstetric theatres and recovery.

They will provide leadership and vision in theatres and recovery for the Directorate.

They will lead in developing junior staff, and provide management support to the Directorate Management Team. Clinical and managerial roles will overlap, as the needs of the service dictate.

They will also work as part of the Operational Band 7 and senior midwifery management team to meet departmental objectives and support and develop the work of the obstetric theatre service including staff training and development.

Main duties of the job

To provide management for the team of staff within obstetric theatres and recovery, for the smooth and effective running of the service, in accordance with UHB and Theatre Service policy and practice, and exercising appropriate leadership. To supervise the day-to-day work provided by the Obstetric Teams, in delivering service objectives. To maintain and utilise expert knowledge of the speciality teams utilising the theatres, theatre practice and healthcare issues, supporting and guiding the team to deliver service objectives.
