Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board are pleased to offer an opportunity to appoint to a new role of 'Macmillan Improving the Cancer Journey Project Manager'. This is exciting new role, funded by Macmillan but employed by the Health Board offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact on lives of people affected by cancer.

Over the last 30 years, there have been significant changes in cancer treatment and now more people than ever are surviving cancer. The successful candidate will lead on a project around embedding an 'Improving the Cancer Journey' model across the Cardiff & Vale UHB footprint.

The role will deliver clear and specific recommendations that would be required, with options as appropriate, to provide a sustainable, supportive, integrated community model of care to better and support people living with cancer in the Cardiff and the Vale area, developing a timed, clear, measurable, achievable yet aspirational, recommended course of action to ensure that everyone with a cancer diagnosis can access holistic support and advice when they want it and in the format of their choosing.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work to gather a comprehensive understanding of the current situation and take a proactive approach to working in partnership to improve this across a broad range of stakeholders including cancer charities, wider third sector organisations, statutory and private sectors to ensure the scoping is approached inclusively, with the core focus on improving the cancer journey for everyone.

The successful candidate will need to show their ability to lead, support & coach others, be able to work effectively within a team & independently, evidence excellent communication, organisation & negotiation skills and be able to demonstrate situations where effective leadership skills have been used for improvement.

Fixed term for 12 months due to funding
