Job summary

The Cardiothoracic Directorate is a busy and growing service based at University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough.

We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic individual to work alongside our Cardiothoracic Lead Nurse Team . The applicant should have the essential requirements outlined in the personal specification , with excellent communication and organisational skills, ability to work with minimum supervision and the ability to prioritise their own workload. Excellent audio typing/typing skills is also an essential requirement for this role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a high standard of administration support to the Cardiothoracic Nursing Team and wider cardiology clinical teams as and when required.
  • Retrieval and filing of medical notes as required.
  • Receiving and opening of mail and taking appropriate action
  • To support the Cardiothoracic Nursing Team in providing a comprehensive service to the consultants and clinical teams.
  • To provide cross-cover across the cardiology department as and when required
  • Photocopying and scanning as required
  • Answering the telephone and liaising with the Cardiothoracic Nursing Team to resolve patient queries efficiently and effectively
  • Maintaining accurate filing systems
  • Liaising with medical records as and when needed.
  • Liaising with other departments both internal and external to the Health Board
  • Assisting with any other administration duties as required
  • Support with data collection
