Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Respiratory Healthcare Assistant / Assistant Respiratory Physiologist to join the Lung Function and Sleep Apnoea Service at Cardiff and Vale UHB. The successful post holders will be based at University Hospital Llandough but will rotate with other team members to support the delivery of the service within community and as such will also be required to work on Primary Care sites within North East Cardiff, South east Cardiff and the Vale. Therefore will need access to transport.

This position will support the Respiratory Physiology team with basic Respiratory Diagnostic procedures, preparing equipment, ensuring accuracy of equipment and abiding by protocols.Full training will be provided on the job.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have experience within a healthcare environment, be able to manage their own workload, have excellent organisation skills and work well as a team.

Main duties of the job

To independently provide a lung function service patients within Cardiff & Vale as required, on patients of all ages in a variety of locationsincluding:

- Spirometry- Response to inhaled bronchodilators- Assessment of blood gas status (pulse oximetry and ear lobe capillary sampling)- FeNO testing- Sleep study monitor preparation, issue and download- Stock check and ordering
