An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cancer Prehabilitation team as a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner.
This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who has previous experience as a therapy or rehabilitation assistant in an NHS or care setting, or someone who has experience within leisure and would like to move into healthcare.
This post holder will work as part of the Prehab2Rehab team which offers hospital and community based assessments and interventions aimed to optimise patients preparing for cancer treatment within Cardiff and Vale. The Therapies Assistant Practitioner will work closely with Dietitians, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to provide a holistic approach to patient care.
As this post holder will move between both hospital and community settings, they must be able to travel between sites in a timely manner to undertake duties of the post at various locations.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a service with the Therapists to promote physical and functional rehabilitation, improve nutritional status of patients and optimisation of the patients health and wellbeing
Working alongside Physiotherapists they will deliver and progress group exercise sessions within community settings such as leisure centres. Under the supervision of the Dietitian they will undertake nutritional screening, monitor nutritional care plans, deliver first line nutritional advice and assist in the delivery of group dietetic sessions. With direction from the Occupational Therapist they will take responsibility for implementing and managing aspects of the Occupational Therapy treatment programme, promote independence, health and well-being and safety in hospital or community settings.
To contribute, as part of the team, to the overall aims of the Therapies Services. The post-holder will work independently to an agreed framework and will be responsible and accountable for these tasks.
They may be required to work their normal contracted hours flexibly, in a variety of different working patterns, in response to the needs of the service where they are placed.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
