Job summary

Veterans' NHS Wales (VNHSW) is the national NHS service for military veterans with service-related mental health problems. The VNHSW team based in the hub in Cardiff is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Psychological Therapist to join us.

The successful applicant will deliver psychological care to clients within Veterans' NHS Wales. They will work closely with the Director and the Clinical/Counselling Psychologist in providing service evaluation and development of psychological and psychosocial interventions, teaching, and staff support in the delivery of clinical care.

The post holder will deliver specific high-intensity evidence-based psychological interventions for patients within the service.

Main duties of the job

To provide high intensity, specialist evidence-based psychological therapy interventions (requiring psychological therapist specialist training) and to support delivery of a pathway of condition specific care which will deliver high fidelity psychological interventions as designated in Matrics Cymru.

The post holder will be a highly skilled clinician with a breadth of mental health expertise and core professional qualification in this field. They will contribute to a specialist pathway of care by working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary workers and peer support workers in the development and implementation of specialist psychological therapy in the context of more complex care which address the physical, psychological and psychosocial needs of service users and their families/carers.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential

  • As for Psychological therapist defined by CFWI OR HCPC registrant or professional for undertaking assessment under Part 1 of the Mental Health Measure (Wales). Accreditation and current registration with approved professional regulatory body. As above, AND Masters level or post-masters level training in evidence-based approaches (as defined by Matrics Cymru and designated e.g. IPT, CBT, EMDR, or Diploma in a relevant Psychological Therapy e.g. CBT. Accreditation with specialist regulatory body and ongoing supervision fulfilling current requirements as set by the accrediting or approved body for evidence-based therapy delivery e.g. CAT, IPT, CBT, EMDR OR Recent successful completion of a Level 2 BABCP accredited course with well progressed supervised practice and portfolio for accreditation within the next 6 months. OR CBT trained and qualified at post-graduate level, with provisional or full individual accreditation awarded by the BABCP. Formal supervision training in relevant therapy /specialist field of evidence-based practice as designated.

  • Ability to write for publication.
  • Portfolio evidencing supervised practice in supervision and further relevant training.

Experience

  • Extensive experience of undertaking assessments and providing evidence-based interventions.
