Job summary
Weqas is an External Quality Assessment (EQA) provider hosted by the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board.
Weqas provides four distinct services:
- External Quality Assessment for Laboratory and Point of Care Services
- Reference Laboratory
- Quality Control Production
- Education and Training
We are seeking a motivated, organised, meticulous and professional individual to join our team.
We are looking for individuals who have an interest in software development and/or cloud infrastructure.
The individual will be joining a team of four within the IT team, reporting to the manager whilst working closely with the principal analyst and the senior developer to learn all aspects of the Weqas Connect application. This application serves as a comprehensive, interactive portal for External Quality Assessment (EQA) programmes, consolidating previous developed platforms and enhancing user experience, delivery and functionality.
Attention to detail and effective communication skills are highly valued. Effective communication with various stakeholders, clear explanations of technical issues, and collaboration with non-technical users are essential.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The role involves supportingthe principal analyst and shadowing developers. The role focuses on taking on the more technical validation of the system, whilst also being proactive, providing ideas for enhancement, and exploring new technologies and solutions.

The post holder will assist in the data cleansing and migration of data from legacy systems to new systems.
The post holder will participate in the testing of application functionality and the validation of data to ensure the accuracy and integrity of database content.
Key responsibilities include regular assessment and maintenance of the Weqas Connect software, diagnosing and resolving issues, and implementing updates.
The individual will collaborate with team members across different teams to ensure the training resources are suitable and support the product effectively.
