This post is fixed term/secondment until April 2026 to meet the needs of the service.

The Waiting Well Service is a new initiative within C&VUHB aimed at optimising the health of those patients waiting for surgery. We are committed to ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of treatment and support throughout their healthcare journey. As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist to lead our Waiting Well Service.

As a Nurse Team Leader you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of care to patients prior to their surgical procedures. You will lead a team of nurses and healthcare professionals, overseeing the assessment, planning, and implementation of strategies to optimize patients' health and well-being before surgery.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead and manage a team of nurses, therapists and support staff within the Waiting Well Service.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans for patients prior to surgery.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical histories, current health status, and risk factors to identify areas for optimization.
  • Educate patients and their families about pre-operative preparations, including medications, lifestyle modifications, and post-operative expectations.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients' progress throughout the pre-operative process, adjusting care plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with established protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements related to pre-operative care.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and patient-centered care environment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
