Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seconded Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager/Sister within Integrated Medicine at UHW.
Heulwen North is currently a 14 bedded Infectious Disease and General Medical ward within Integrated Medicine at the University Hospital of Wales.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the care of the patients within the ward, being of high quality whilst ensuring effective planning and implementation of care needs, in line with available resources. The role requires the successful candidate to be able to manage both clinical and managerially and demonstrate an ability to work well amongst an MDT and who has strong verbal and written communication skills and high ethical standards.
This post requires a motivated, dynamic and innovative leader. They must be flexible, approachable, compassionate and able to manage their time effectively.
The successful candidate will receive support in their new role; this will be provided by the ward manager and senior nurses.We are committed to the development of all our staff and supportive of further personal development.
Main duties of the job
- Uphold the values of the ward promoting openness, transparency and learning
- Be an enthusiastic mentor to and supervise new staff, newly qualified nurses and junior staff
- Oversee certain areas of clinical expertise such as medication management
- Support the Ward Manager with HR tasks such as return to works and sickness monitoring
- Accurately and timely maintain clinical documentation
- Manage shifts as a nurse in charge
- Conduct thorough assessments of risks and risk management plans to support incidents on the ward
We are looking for an individual who is resilient, driven and passionate to provide high quality nursing care to our patients, whist supporting the leadership on Heulwen.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to maternity cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
