Job summary
Weqas is one of the largest External Quality Assessment (EQA) providers in the United Kingdom with over 600 clients providing services to both laboratory and POCT diagnostic services. This is an exciting opportunity for a person interested in laboratory measurement science to support the work of the Weqas Reference Measurement Laboratory. We are seeking a candidate with an organised and methodical approach to work within this busy environment.
The Associate Practitioner (AP) will be responsible for providing a professional support service for Weqas and undertaking duties to support Scientific Staff in the day to day technical and clerical functions involved with running a Reference Measurement Laboratory. The AP will be responsible for carrying out technical or scientific tasks under supervision/ direction using a wide range of practical and theoretical knowledge following written Laboratory Procedures. Post holder will take responsibility for completion of designated tasks and for organising & scheduling workload.
The laboratory provides a Reference Measurement Service using Gold Standard methodology. The role of the Reference Laboratory is to research and develop reference measurement methods in order to give stated, traceable, measurement results, aiding in global harmonisation of laboratory medicine results.
Main duties of the job
The post holder's main duties will be:
- To carry out day to day tasks within the Weqas Reference lab team to support the Scientists. Carrying out tasks such as data checking, issuing of reports and customer service support.
- To support the Scientific team in the preparation of measurement samples and undertake instrument evaluations as directed.
- To take responsibility for routine measurement, maintenance, IQC assay & monitoring
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
