Job summary

The rotations are available from 7th August 2024 for 4 years in the following Health Boards,

  • Aneurin Bevan University Health Board
  • Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
  • Cwm Taf University Health Board
  • Swansea Bay University Health Board

Successful applicants will gain valuable experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics, along with opportunities to undertake a funded MSc of their choice; applicants will also be encouraged to attend the regular ST teaching along with current Trainees.

All units have an excellent track record nationally and internationally and have trained surgeons who are now consultants in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Australasia.

The post is noteducationally approved and will therefore not attract a National Training Number, but you will receive the similar experience as the Trainees and have access to the similar benefits as above.

This is a rotation and all post holders will be required to move between the hospitals mentioned above - varying numbers of posts mean that not all post holders will work in every centre but the aim is for each employee to have 2 years experience in one of the larger hospitals - (Cardiff/Swansea/Newport) and 2 years in one of the smaller hospitals (Merthyr/Bridgend)

For further details (pre-shortlisting) contact: laura.lougher@wales.nhs.uk or tina.cook@wales.nhs.uk

It will not be possible to for all applicants to be spoken to personally on the phone pre-shortlisting but we will try to answer any queries about the posts by e-mail. After shortlisting candidates may contact the relevant consultants if necessary
