Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse vacancy within the Medical Emergency Assessment Unit at Cardiff and Vale UHB.

The Medical Emergency Assessment Unit is a 20 trollied area, which consists of a high care area, an ambulatory area for specialty patients and those patients referred by a GP.

The unit assesses patients referred in by their GP to be seen by Acute Medicine and also patients arriving via Welsh Ambulance Service Trust.

Applications are welcomed from qualified Level 1 Registered Nurses who have significant nursing experience and can demonstrate substantial knowledge within this field of expertise.

Main duties of the job

Support the patients journey within the Medical Emergency Assessment Unit.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant and specialised forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise registered and/or unregistered staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment

The post holder will be expected to manage flow within specific areas of MEAU and develop skills around managing the unit as a whole, providing effective leadership and management of the nursing team in an environment which is complex and pressurised.

Ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to NMC and UHB standards (including electronic records)

You will require excellent communication and clinical skills, significant evidence of CPD and show passion and enthusiasm for working in Acute Medicine.
