Job summary
Opportunities have arisen for band 6 Counsellors to join the Primary Care Counselling Service (PCCS), at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. The post-holder will be part of an innovative and enthusiastic team of counsellors, IPT therapists, CBT therapists, trauma counsellors, consultative supervisors and lead counsellors.
We are a "digital first" service so you will combine working remotely (homeworking) using our Attend Anywhere platform, with working from one of our locality clinics to provide in-person appointments.
Main duties of the job
Our team of enthusiastic counsellors and therapists provide high intensity counselling and psychological therapy interventions for people with both 'less severe' and 'more severe depression', depression with comorbid anxiety, and depression with clinical complexity.
Within our service we offer a range of interventions depending on the needs of the client. Referrals are made by GPs to PMHSS for a Part 1 assessment, and then to onward us when indicated. We are part of a large and progressive Health Board within the Directorate of Psychology and Psychological Therapies. We support CPD and offer regular group and individual consultative supervision.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Post-Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling, CBT, Counselling, or equivalent.
- BACP accredited or equivalent (e.g. UKCP, BABCP, HCPC, IPTUK,)
Desirable
- Masters degree in Counselling/Integrative or Psychotherapy/equivalent
- further training in condition specific interventions (IPT, EMDR, TF-CBT, CFT, Schema)
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- To have a minimum of 450 supervised client hours clinical experience
- Experience of working with brief, focussed interventions and/or evidence based psychological therapy interventions
