Job summary
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic practitioner psychologist to complete our team of psychologists working in Critical Care and Major Trauma.
You will provide a full range of psychological services to patients, families and staff within the critical care unit and across the pathway, and work with the multi-disciplinary team to offer specialist psychological advice, consultation and training.
The post is managed by the Lead Consultant Psychologist for Critical Care and Major Trauma (Dr Julie Highfield).
The posts can be offered as a 7 post for newly qualified staff, or as an 8a post for people with appropriate experience. The 8a post is an excellent opportunity for those looking to progress their career, or for established 8as who want to be part of our developing service. We are also keen to hear from newly qualified applicants (and those close to completing their training) as this role can be offered as a 7 developmental post.
Main duties of the job
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Critical Care and Major Trauma Psychology Team. This post is within Critical Care.
The post-holder will join a team of Psychologists, providing psychological care to patients admitted to critical care (intensive care), their families and the team. You will work as part of the largest Critical Care service in Wales, and linked to the South Wales Major Trauma Centre. This is a great time to join us as critical care continues to expand.
This post forms part of a supportive team of clinical psychologists and wider MDT. The role includes consultation, staff training, team formulation and psychological support to patients and their families. You will be working on the unit, and also with patients post critical care on wards and in outpatient follow up.
There is access to a wealth of supervision and support within our friendly Psychology department.
We are looking for an applicant with knowledge and experience of working in medical/ health settings. This post would appeal to an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner, who enjoys working in a dynamic environment.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
