Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join the Regional Specialist Community Brain Injury Team, within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
The post holder will assistant in the provision of neuropsychological and psychological assessment and intervention to adult patients with acquired brain injury. The service is delivered in outpatient, community and domiciliary settings
The post holder should demonstrate the relevant skills and enthusiasm required to work within this clinical specialty.
There will be opportunities to link in with other assistant psychologists and clinical supervision will be provided with a qualified Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist within the team.
They may be required to work their normal contracted hours flexibly in a variety of different working patterns in response to the needs of the service where they are placed. The post holder will see people in their own homes and local communities, and so the ability to travel in a timely manner is required.

Main duties of the job
To work alongside members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver psychology services to patients as part of their holistic neuro-rehabilitation. This will include patients with cognitive and behavioural difficulties. The post-holder will work directly with service users, delivering evidence-based psychological therapies, both 1:1 and in group settings. This may be in people's own homes, local communities, or on-site at UHL.
The post-holder will also support with the provision of neuropsychological assessments carried out within the service, and there is an opportunity to develop competence and experience in psychometric test administration, scoring and interpretation.
They will work under direct supervision of the team's Clinical Psychologist, with further supervision from the Service Lead Clinical Neuropsychologist.
They will participate in service development projects, audit and service evaluation. They will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and support with the general clinical work of the team.
