Job summary
These are exciting times for Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health (EWMH) services as we create accessible universal, targeted and active support services. This is a new Band 7 occupational therapy post and the successful candidate will be based with in the specialist interventions arm of the EWMH offer. You will support formulation to understand behaviours with a sensory/emotional regulation basis and offer specialist interventions to support occupational progress. We provide person centred formulation which considers 'what is happening' as opposed to 'what is wrong' and in doing so, aim to promote self awareness and management across the system that supports the child/young person.
The occupational therapy service in EWMH services is a growing part of the team and you will join the occupational therapists in Crisis and Home Treatment, Looked After Children's Team (ENFYs) and Recovery. You will hold a specific lens on trauma informed, Sensory Attachment Interventions alongside sensory/motor and psychosocial foundations to occupational progress.
While based in EWMH, you will be part of the wider generic community, special schools and acute occupational therapy teams. This single occupational therapy service model aims to ensure evidence based, safe and effective occupational therapy care at all levels. You will support pathway development within the occupational therapy team which embeds No Wrong Door and ensure smooth and seamless transitions.
Main duties of the job
We welcome applications from occupational therapists with a breath of experience which may include community, trauma, paediatrics and mental health. You must be driven to share expertise within the MDT to ensure the concepts of occupational performance, safe regulation and crisis support, are broadly available. You must have advanced clinical reasoning skills to formulate complex packages of care within the MDT.
You will link with the Single Point of Access to consult on and advice when cases can receive a universal or targeted offers. This model of consultation is extended across EWMH services and to he generic occupational therapy team. As such you will supervise work being delivered by other practitioners on a second opinion basis.
Your own learning will be support by supervision (both individual and peer), appraisal, access to external training and access to CPD sessions across the children and women's services in Cardiff and Vale. You role will also require you to offer training to other professionals, parents and children and young people
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
