Job summary

As a senior programme manager working within Acute Child Health, the post holder will play a key role in transforming and project managing approved WHSSC and Health Board business cases as well as looking to lead innovation and transformation with the Children's Hospital for Wales.

Jointly with the clinical leads for each project, , the postholder will lead on roll out, further and local optimization, quantitative and qualitative evaluation using 'spread and scale' as well as value-based health care methodology.

Implementation of the key project objectives will see highly complex operational system changes moving over from the traditionally hospital-based clinic model, and developing organizational mechanisms for joint working across clinical boards, within tight time scales, budget and resources, and against a backdrop of competing demands.

As well as shaping change by designing and implementing new systems, the post holder will need to use their influencing skills to create a joint positive child and family focused cultural change across the Child Health interfaces, and resistance to new ways of working along the way.

The role has a high degree of autonomy and is expected to support and mentor clinical, operational and administrative colleagues, and transfer skills for service quality improvement and project management in order to grow and embed improvement capabilities and a system that sustains the new model beyond completion of roll-out.

Main duties of the job

Helping Clinicians to improve many related processes such as e-referral triage, Paediatric community health pathways, administration, IT and workforce sustainability will need to be aligned to enable and reinforce the core emphasis on close and efficient working relationships. Fundamental redesign of some of the released hospital-based capacity (foot print and staff) will also be required to develop and deliver a range of contemporaneous secondary care special interest clinics.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
