Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Locum Consultant in Paediatric Cardiology within the Tertiary Paediatric Cardiology Service for South, West and Mid Wales based at the Children's Hospital for Wales in Cardiff. This is a replacement post following retirement of the post holder and is pending recruitment to a substantive post in the near future.
The Paediatric Cardiology service based at Children's Hospital for Wales in Cardiff provides a tertiary medical service for the South Wales region for children who suffer with congenital heart disease. We are a non-surgical (level 2) centre with strong professional links with Bristol Children's Hospital as our surgical centre.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary for this post is £105,401 per annum.
Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a team of enthusiastic cardiologists and will have the opportunity to play a key role in further development of the service. The appointee will be an important member of the South West and South Wales Network for Paediatric cardiology and will be expected to take an active interest in network activities and engage with all the paediatricians from the referral hospitals in the area.
