Job summary
With the successful creation of a new clinical directorate and new management arrangements an exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our team. We are now seeking dynamic individuals who want to be a part the Endoscopy Service at University Hospital Llandough.
The unit comprises of 6 Theatres that service a full range of GI Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy procedures and also dedicated support facilities for a seamless patient pathway.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work with a friendly and supportive team within a challenging and demanding environment. Experience in a health care environment is desirable but not essential as on- the - job training will be provided. A mentor will be assigned to guide you towards developing your skills, thus providing effective and efficient delivery of patient care.
As a Decontamination Technician in the Endoscopy Unit at UHL you will be responsible for the daily decontamination of a variety of endoscopes ensuring they are cleaned, maintained and stored in line with National standards.
The successful candidate will be working in a purpose built unit, using some of the latest technology.
The Unit provides a service to both out-patients and inpatients which includes diagnostic and therapeutic procedures 24 hrs a day.
Main duties of the job
The Decontamination Technician role is to aid all members of the Endoscopy team by supporting the Qualified staff in activities undertaken in the Endoscopy unit, carrying out some duties without direct supervision.
They will be responsible for daily maintenance of all endoscopes within the department ensuring a suitable supply for the lists.
The post holder will carry out assigned tasks involving patient care and other duties under direct supervision of qualified staff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
