Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Dental Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit of University Dental Hospital, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
We are looking for an experienced Decontamination Technician to join our team of decontamination professionals and scientists.The department reprocess re-usable Dental Medical Devices for Dental OPD, Intermediate Oral surgery, Community Dental Services,Dental Theatres, PHDS, Dental Clinics and Children's Hospital for Wales.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake the decontamination, packing, sterilisation and re-supply of Dental surgical instruments etc, under the direction of the DSDU Supervisor, as part of a team.
All activities will be undertaken within the requirements of the Quality Management System.
To undertake decontamination science duties and assist (under supervision) the workforce of Decontamination Supervisors, in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices contributing to the clinical care of the patient.
To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices. Record all tasks in the tracking and tracing database.
Work in accordance with the Department's Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems.To provide supervision to Apprentice Decontamination Technicians within the team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
