Job summary
Lead / Consultant* Pharmacist to join the Adult Mental Health Service at Hafan Y Coed Unit, Llandough Hospital.
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced advanced clinical pharmacist to join our patient-focused and progressive Mental Health Pharmacy Team.
The post holder will lead clinical pharmacy services and medicines management to patients of the Adult Mental Health Service and play an integral role in directing this service as part of the MDT. They will ensure that a sustainable, high quality clozapine service and mental health pharmacy services are provided to the community population of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
We welcome applications from experienced Mental Health pharmacists who have experience in adult based care. The post holder will be supported in credentialing as a Consultant Pharmacist (if not already credentialed) and continue to develop their advanced practice within the excellent team of professionals working in the Mental Health department. If necessary, we will help you credential as a consultant pharmacist within a mutually-agreed time-frame of 1 - 2 years.
If the successful candidate is not credentialed as a Consultant Pharmacist then the role will be at AFC Band 8b with progression to 8c contingent on credentialing as a Consultant Pharmacist.

Main duties of the job
You will practice as an expert/consultant pharmacist for Adult Mental Health in Cardiff and Vale UHB and maintain connections and clinical engagement with wider multidisciplinary teams. Engaging with a network of specialist pharmacists across NHS UK, you will champion learning, and be responsible for the delivery and strategic development of the Adult Directorate Mental Health Pharmacy Service for Cardiff and Vale UHB .
You will provide managerial and clinical leadership to the pharmacy team providing Pharmacy Mental Health services. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, decision-making and specialist transformational skills with evidence of recent service development at senior management level through the application of modern improvement methodologies.
Forging relationships with stakeholders nationally and with outreach centres across Wales, your leadership will inspire and expedite clinical engagement to deliver current best practice in delivery of Adult Mental Health Services, particularly specialist clozapine services to the community population in the region. You will provide advice and support for effective medicines use and governance in both specialist hospital settings and community mental health teams.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
