Job summary
An exciting opportunity for an experienced, suitably qualified Training Officer manager to join the Directorate Management Team (DMT) of the All Wales Medical Genomics service (AWMGS), working flexibly for 37.5 hours per week.
This is a permanent post currently based at University Hospital of Wales - however, please note that we will be relocating to a new facility at Cardiff Edge in 2023/24. The Training Officer will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and coordination of the All Wales Genomics Laboratory (AWGL) strategic training plan. The post holder should demonstrate good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate sensitive information, good negotiation and change management skills. The pay progression steps for this post as a Band 7 begin at £43742. Max grade value is £50056. The expectation is that all staff will meet the required standards and will, thus, be able to progress on their pay step date. This framework is underpinned by the VBA process and is intended to ensure all staff have the appropriate knowledge and skills needed to carry out their roles. Main duties of the job
This will be a key role in supporting the AWMGS Training Manager to establish and enable a culture of improvement, as well as embed excellent training skills and delivery within the service. The post holder will report to the Training Manager and will be required to liaise with other AWGL and Directorate key personnel. This will include the management of complex activities or programmes of change, wherein the successful candidate will be required to have the necessary motivational skills to continuously improve the performance of AWMGS training programmes . The post holder will facilitate the operation of training to ensure compliance with current national legislation, regulatory and accreditation systems, and best practice determined through audit. They will provide and promote training, as well as providing specialist advice on training methodology and frameworks. They will take the lead role in ensuring our training meets the needs of individuals and the services as well as its service users. This role includes training the AWGL section training leads in educational best practice; providing a supervisory and supporting role to the section leads, including a cohort of staff with scientific and administrative background. They will be responsible for the delivery of various training pathways in the AWGL including STP training and Scientist Training Programme Equivalence and Practitioner Training Programme along with its monitoring, evaluation and improvement.
