Job summary

If you are enthusiastic about working with children and young people and have a keenness for delivering high quality occupational therapy, this job is for you. This is a well supported and established role within the generic community occupational therapy team. You will work as a key team member, to support an understanding of a child/young person's occupational profile and determine barriers and strength to progressing occupational performance. This will include providing advice and consultation, undertaking assessment and providing active support to children, young people, their families and schools.

Main duties of the job

The occupational therapy service benefits from a range of clinical specialist roles across acute, community and special schools. The band 7 role forms part of the leadership team across the service which is creating and embedding new innovations to support efficient and effective service delivery. You will work with the team to ensure the workforce gains the right knowledge and experience to create a sustainable service for the future.

We are driven to open our access and increase our reach so that all children and young people who need occupational therapy can access support. Creating a universal and targeted offer is a main priority for sustainability and you will be required to provide germane, evidence based practice to support these offers. We provide person centred formulation which considers 'what is happening' as opposed to 'what is wrong' and in doing so, aim to promote self awareness and management across the system that supports the child/young person.Excellent communication is required and this will also include providing both online and face to face training to children, young people, families and other professionals.

Your own learning will be support by supervision (individual, peer and group); Value Based Appraisal; access to external training and access to CPD sessions across the children and women's services in Cardiff and Vale.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
