Job summary
Due to investment in the Therapies Critical Care Team, we now have an incredible opportunity to become the Bd8a SLT Lead in Critical Care for C&VUHB.
As the largest critical care unit in Wales, we provide high quality care for the sickest patients in hospital. With a world leading research department, outstanding education opportunities and strong public engagement links, caring for patients remains our passion.
We are therefore looking for a highly skilled and dynamic SLT who has the commitment and enthusiasm to lead the SLT critical care team in assessing and managing the range of speech, swallowing and cognitive impairments that patients experience following critical illness, trauma, major surgery or long term decline.
The role will be supported by our strong management team and leadership teams from within SLT, Critical Care and wider UHB and offers lots of opportunities for service innovation, research & development and leadership.

Main duties of the job
To be the operational lead for speech and language therapy services delivered within the critical care setting throughout Cardiff & Vale UHB, providing clinical leadership and having delegated responsibility for performance and delivery of key service objectives.
To be the designated clinical lead for critical care, providing expert advice and second opinions concerning the most complex cases for the SLT service.
To provide professional advice to the Strategic Lead for Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service including horizon scanning for strategic issues which may impact on the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to consolidate your leadership skills and to develop the SLT critical care service within Cardiff and Vale UHB.
