Job summary
Are you a dietitian with the commitment and enthusiasm to compassionately deliver care for life-limiting conditions in a clinical leadership role? We are looking for a dynamic experienced dietitian with a demonstrable interest in working across care settings to join the award-winning Supportive Care service which has significantly improved patient care and experience in heart failure, and is expanding into supporting other life-limiting non-malignant diseases. The team will develop links with hepatobiliary, renal, respiratory, cardiology and palliative care teams locally and regionally. The focus for the dietetic service will be hepatobiliary patients. The post is funded at 0.5wte however additional hours may be available for candidates looking for increased hours.
The team support patients throughout their journey, using a person-centred approach managing their needs. Quality care will be co-produced and delivered using evidenced based practice, demonstrating continuous learning processes. You will demonstrate proven leadership experience and an innovative approach to service development, within an inclusive working culture to support staff well-being.You will be able to work autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for the clinical leadership and operational performance of the dietetic service to supportive care.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Lead Dietitian will
- have relevant previous senior clinical and leadership experience
- ensure holistic high-quality assessments and care needs are met
- ensure that the patients are meeting the criteria of the supportive care pathway
- be able to provide expert clinical support and advice to patients and carers
- collaborate closely with key stakeholders which will include identifying areas for service development and improvement, to continue implementing transformational change
- act as an expert within this specialist field
- advocate and support patients' rights by promoting shared decision making, respecting individual choice and beliefs, ensuring privacy and dignity at all times
- demonstrate excellent communication skills work delivering information sensitively and effectively
- be able to work autonomously using advanced clinical judgement and knowledge within a multi-disciplinary team, holding a caseload planning, delivering and monitoring interventions and to communicate
- provide and participate in a supportive framework of supervision and the UHBs values-based appraisals process.
