Job summary
The post holder will be working primarily in the Immunology Infusion Unit, providing immunoglobulin replacement therapy and other treatments to patients with immune deficiency. Duties will include assessment of patients, venepuncture, cannulation, and drug administration, and general care of the patient. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of the unit, ensuring paperwork and medication is prepared, managing stock, and organising appointments. They will also assist in other tasks including managing remote sample collection from patients and monitoring clinical test results.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Band 5 Registered Nurse within the Immunodeficiency and Allergy Centre for Wales. The team provides a specialised national service in Immunology and Allergy, with responsibility across all health boards. The successful candidate will provide professional and clinical patient care as part of a multi-disciplinary team including consultants, nursing, and research team members.
The service is unique within Wales with many opportunities for clinical innovation and development. Working alongside a dedicated, friendly and motivated team, you will provide sound clinical nursing skills that facilitate the development of the service in Cardiff and across Wales.
Prior experience in Immunology is desirable but not essential - there will be opportunities for learning both in the workplace and through courses.
The successful candidate may be expected to travel within their role as Immunology and Allergy Registered Nurse.
