Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Service Manager postswithin the Emergency and Acute Medicine Directorate, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. They are available as follows;

Service Manager for Acute Medicine (1 WTE)

Service Manager for Emergency Medicine (1 WTE)

We are seeking passionate and driven individuals to support our services and to help deliver our transformation plans, whilst supporting the high quality and effectiveness of our service

The post holders will lead the services, whilst working alongside the General Manager, Medical Leads and Nursing Leads to deliver local strategic service objectives and standards. The Service Managers will be responsible for working to ensure the delivery of key quality, performance and service improvements within the Clinical Service.

This will include line management of staff across a number of staff groups and multiple hospital sites. This role will give the post holders an opportunity to develop both managerial and transformational skills. The post holders will be supported by the Directorate Managerial Team and also the Senior Nursing Team.

Main duties of the job

To be operationally accountable for the effective management, organisation and delivery of the Service. To ensure provision of quality services, reducing waste and variation, including the management of specific devolved budgets.

To facilitate the delivery of service improvements, performance and efficiency targets and to support the development of best practice within available resources. To provide leadership and direction to staff, enabling a culture of learning and effectiveness. To ensure that staff are developed in accordance with their agreed Personal Development Plan.

To actively contribute to the strategic development of the Department to meet both the present and future provision in line with the UHB, Regional and National objectives.

To contribute to the corporate and clinical quality and safety agenda of the Directorate and Clinical Board.

To support the General Manager in the redesign of services, leading on specific service improvement projects where appropriate.

To promote and participate in research and development and audit studies.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
