Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Capital, Estates & Facilities Department at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board as a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical).

The Estates Department currently have a number of positions to work alongside and support the Estates Operational Teams in the Day to Day Operational Maintenance of the UHB Estate.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic construction engineering individuals to support the continual service provision of one of the largest Health Boards in Wales.

The department is going through an exciting time of Service Improvement to increase the support and enhance the patient experience ensuring the department is fit for the future.

We are looking to recruit someone who will ensure that we will excel in providing a safe, organised and highly efficient service, a person who can be innovative in their thinking and have the ability to make decisions for themselves, someone who can develop and support the service improvements of the department ensuring we are fit for the future.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Perform work including activities which are complex and/or non-routine. Responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment such as:

Hot and Cold-Water Systems, Low Pressure Hot Water Systems, Steam Raising Plant and associated equipment, Steam Sterilizers, Medical Gas Pipe Systems and Ventilation Systems, Electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, building control & automation, standby generator plant, security access control, nurse call systems & data-communications.

Undertake planned maintenance, reactive repairs, minor improvements and support other trades and discretionary capital work across the UHB as directed by management. Ensure compliance with UHB safety standards and procedures at all times.

Provide multi-skilled engineering expertise across various electrical and mechanical equipment and fabric.
