Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated and innovative Principal Physiotherapist in Spinal Cord Injury. They will have excellent communication, leadership and teamworking skills with a passion for spinal cord injury rehabilitation. The post holder will provide expert professional and clinical leadership to support the delivery of physiotherapy across the pathway. The post holder will provide clinical expertise for the physiotherapy and wider MDT based in Cardiff and Vale UHB. They will ensure the delivery of high quality, safe care and support the development of clinical pathways within the health board and Network, through expert knowledge, clinical leadership and education.
The successful person will have excellent communication and influencing skills, extensive experience of working within the field of spinal cord injury and able to demonstrate working with a range of professionals and patients. They will work independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team. They will hold a limited case load and be able to plan, deliver and monitor interventions and to communicate sensitively and effectively.
The post holder will help develop seamless cross health board working, and assist with integrating research evidence into practice in order to improve patient care across the network. They will be supported in the role by both the clinical service lead and Head of Service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide leadership to ensure that the physiotherapy services are able to deliver and person-centredquality care . They will also provide clinical leadership for the continuous professional development of physiotherapy staff, this includes supporting systems for professional reregistration and performance management.
They will be expected to deliver highly specialist assessment, treatment and evaluation of outcomes to patients within this specialty. The post holder will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team. They will be expected to provide multi-professional education and training, undertaking evidence-based audit and research projects as part of their job plan. This will involve leading the implementation of specific changes to practice and service protocols. The post holder is guided by principles, policies and regulations however as a specialist clinical practitioner the post holder has significant role in discretion to decide how results are best achieved, by interpreting, influencing and developing protocols, procedures and guidelines. It is expected that you will be involved in national professional forums and groups

- To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients, using advanced clinical reasoning skills to formulate and deliver individual treatment programmes.
