Highly Specialist Dietitian - Diabetes

Job summary
A rare opportunity has arisen for a dietitian to join the secondary care diabetes service in Cardiff and Vale UHB to lead on the dietetic care of patients with insulin pumps. You will work in a supportive MDT predominantly based at UHW but you will be required to travel between sites within the UHB. You will also undertake a role in consulting on complex diabetes in inpatient settings across our UHB sites, providing support to acute dietitians to improve inpatient care. The secondary care diabetes service run the DAFNE carbohydrate counting programme delivered through online and face to face group sessions. You will be the course lead on a number of DAFNE and other diabetes courses through the year. This range of opportunities as part of the specialist MDT provide an interesting and varied band 7 opportunity.

We are looking for a dynamic experienced dietitian with a demonstrable interest in working with people with diabetes across care settings.
Experience of working in Diabetes care is required but training on Pump management and DAFNE can be provided.
The successful candidate will promote effectivenessthrough service evaluation, within an inclusive working culture to support staff well-being.
Main duties of the job
The Highly Specialist Dietitian will
- have relevant previous senior clinical and leadership experience
- ensure holistic high-quality assessments and care needs are met
- be able to provide expert clinical support and advice to patients and carers
- collaborate closely with key stakeholders which will include identifying areas for service development and improvement, to continue implementing transformational change
- act as an expert within this specialist field
- advocate and support patients' rights by promoting shared decision making, respecting individual choice and beliefs, ensuring privacy and dignity at all times
- demonstrate excellent communication skills work delivering information sensitively and effectively
- be able to work autonomously using advanced clinical judgement and knowledge within a multi-disciplinary team, holding a caseload planning, delivering and monitoring interventions and to communicate
- provide and participate in a supportive framework of supervision and the UHBs values-based appraisals process.
