Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Macmillan Skin Cancer Nurse Specialist within the Dermatology department of Cardiff and Vale UHB.
We are looking for a registered nurse with relevant experience in Dermatology and knowledge in skin cancer, to join a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team. The role will support the needs of patients with suspected and diagnosed skin cancer, ensuring safe and effective quality of care, whilst also contributing to the multi-disciplinary team meetings and liaising with other health care professionals.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this role will be toensure holistic care is provided to patients diagnosed with skin cancer, to include being present at diagnosis, undertaking holistic needs assessmentsand working as a key worker for these patients.This will include signposting patients to the relevantservices and supporting them through their cancer treatment.
The individual will also be involved in education of patients and staff on the risks of developing skin cancer and employing preventative measures.
Education and research are a large part of this role and the successful applicant will have a positive influential impact on care across the clinical area.
You will be supported in your role and your development by the Lead Macmillan Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
