Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the enthusiastic, highly skilled, vibrant and dynamic nursing team on Ward A7. We are a specialised regional unit for Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) servicing an area stretching up to Mid/North Wales. We also have an acute hepatology service servicing the needs of the local community and surrounding area for a range of hepatological conditions and are an infectious disease unit with fully functioning negative air pressure cubicles used for high consequences infectious diseases.
Specialist nursing staff are attached to the ward, all of whom are very keen to impart their knowledge and share their skills. If successful you would become part of an enthusiastic, multi skilled, supportive and fun loving multi-disciplinary team that always try to support and reassure each other on a daily basis ensuring the patients have the most positive experience possible whilst under our care.
Successful candidates can expect to be fully supported with training for each of the specialties by a multi award winning team, including multi-disciplinary team of the year. As well as the training programmes in place for new starters we will also support the extra training required in longline and short line care and the attendance of further study days in line with the revalidation process. The team on A7 strive to give the best individualised holistic care possible and would welcome any individuals that feel they can adopt this principle in practice.
Main duties of the job
Deliver high standards of care to patients and be responsible for a group patients for which you have been allocated. Care will be in keeping with the philosophies and operational policies of the Health Board. Act in such a manner to safeguard the interest of patients in your care. Follow the nursing process of assess, plan, implement and evaluate programme of care for patients considering their physical; psychological, social and spiritual needs. To escalate concerns about a patient's condition/deterioration to the most appropriate professional. Be aware of the legal requirement concerning the prescribing, control, security and administration of medication. Ability to delegate tasks to a range of staff. Awareness of Deprivation of Liberty safeguards, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act and the ability to raise safeguarding concerns as appropriate. Ability to completed observations of patients in your care and ability to recognise deterioration. Promote a positive image of the UHB at all times, acting as an ambassador/role model for the organisation and the nursing profession.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
