Job summary
To deliver a system of clinical supervision for midwives employed by the Health Board in order to maintain and develop professional standards.
Through the delivery of effective clinical supervision for midwives, influence the quality of maternity services in the Health Board to enhance care delivery.
To work closely with the Head of Midwifery, senior midwives, risk and governance midwives to fulfil a proactive role within the clinical governance framework
To ensure the Code (NMC) 2015) and agreed national and local policies and guidelines are disseminated to midwives through group supervision, with the overarching objective of enhancing the provision of safe maternity care within the Health Board
To support Revalidation with the NMC for midwives employed within the Health Board
To identify and share good practice from the Health Board to colleagues across Wales through membership of an all Wales Forum for CSM's
Main duties of the job
We are looking for motivated individuals to drive forward clinical supervision for Midwives at Cardiff and the Vale UHB. You will be required to lead and develop service improvement projects, participate in action learning and lead one to one and group supervision for midwives. The postholder is expected to work with midwives who need additional support and possess sound and up to date clinical midwifery skills.
In your role as clinical supervisor for midwives you will become part of the governance team, participating in the senior midwife on call rota and will be expected to ensure that learning from incidents is shared with the wider maternity team, participate in key professional and governance meetings andsupport the development of guideline and policies using recent research and evidence based practice
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
