Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board for an experienced public health dietitian to lead their health improvement programmes across range of population groups.

The Public Health dietetic team work with partners to build the capacity of communities, working through our Nutrition Skills for Life programme to support healthy lifestyles and prevent malnutrition. Our aim is to equip community-based staff with the nutrition knowledge and skills to incorporate nutrition messages into their work, employ more local people as community food workers and strengthen community food and nutrition input into areas of health inequality.

The successful candidate will work for the Public Health Dietetic team service, based at Riverside Health Centre for 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for developing, managing and co-ordinating community dietetic partnership programmes with a range and of population groups and addressing health inequalities. This will involve working in partnership with other agencies in a variety of settings including community venues, educational establishments, with social services, third sector and health care providers as well as directly with clients at an individual and group level.

The post holder will be working predominantly in areas of high deprivation with a population with diverse and complex health and social needs and will need to have experience of working in public health dietetics as well as experience of teaching and delivering Agored Cymru Food and Nutrition Skills courses or equivalent.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
